Smarter Water: The Future of LA’s Most Precious Resource

What do the Angeles National Forest, Santa Monica Mountains, LA County’s economy and its 10 million inhabitants have in common? Water is the lifeblood running through them all! Many different interests have politicized and monetized the way we manage this critical natural resource. But what about our interests? And those of future generations?

Please join the Sierra Club along with Los Angeles Waterkeeper, Heal the Bay, Surfrider Foundation (South Bay Chapter), and Desal Response Group at the Smarter Water Town Hall moderated by Culver City City Councilmember Meghan Sahli-Wells at 7pm on May 11th for an inspiring community discussion on LA’s water future.

Smarter Water Questions: Do we need to conserve it? Recycle it? Should we source it from the mountains or the ocean? What did we do with all that stormwater from the winter rains? What role does the West Basin Municipal Water District play in determining our water rates and supply options?

Hear from academic experts, environmental activists, and community leaders about the smartest options for securing LA’s water independence.

This free educational event is sponsored by the West Los Angeles Group of the Angeles Chapter of the Sierra Club.

Event details: Thursday, May 11th, 2017 at 7pm at Culver City Veterans Memorial Auditorium in the Garden room, 4117 Overland Ave., Culver City 90230. Plenty of free lighted parking. Refreshments are served and there is always a lively talk accompanying the program. Feel free to bring a friend; all meetings are open to both members and non-members of the Sierra Club.
