National Preparedness Month
September is National Preparedness Month, a nationwide Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) initiative to increase awareness and encourage individuals, households, and communities to plan and prepare before a disaster strikes. During a major disaster, first responders and relief workers will be on scene focusing on the most critical situations and will not be able to reach everyone right away. National Preparedness Month aims to educate and empower everyone to prepare for all types of emergencies, including natural and human-made disasters. In an effort to help you prepare for emergencies, we are committed to taking part in this nationwide effort with this year’s overarching theme, “Disasters Don’t Plan Ahead. You Can.”
