A Fresh Beginning for the Culver City Farmers' Market
The City of Culver City is proud to announce a fresh beginning for the Culver City Farmers’ Market! Culver City has reinvigorated its downtown, and now it's time to reinvigorate the Culver City Farmers' Market with new management and a renewed vision for the future.
Our vision for the Culver City Farmers' Market is to return to its original promise of showcasing the freshest, local produce brought direct from family-owned California farms. This renewed commitment to integrity will mean:
- An increase in the number of local growers,
- Unique agricultural products not found in grocer stores, and
- More organically-grown produce.
We’re also looking forward to:
- Strengthening ties between local farmers and the restaurants in Culver City’s vibrant food scene,
- Engaging the community with activities such as cooking demos, recipes, and tastings with local chefs, and
- Digital outreach to shoppers.
Stay tuned to the Farmers’ Market website and find the Farmers’ Market on Facebook to get details about all the upcoming events.
To bring these exciting changes to you, the City has partnered with a new market manager, Cynthia Ojeda. Cynthia is a 3rd generation Southern Californian, has been developing, operating, and managing Certified Farmers’ Markets since 1998. In addition, she has developed a farm-to-school nutrition program, served on the Board of the State of California’s Farmers Markets Integrity Task Force, and currently serves as President of the Association of Certified Farmers’ Markets, a new non-profit organization that will provide support to farmers and market operators through education and outreach. Cynthia is excited about being a champion for the farmers and food vendors of the Culver City Farmers' Market!
"We've been with the Culver City market since it opened about 27 years ago and we love our customers. Over time the direction has slowly moved away from the original vision of a farm-to-customer market. I fully support the new direction that Cynthia brings; returning to that original idea is so important to the survival of our family-owned farm."
