Services Provided:
Safe Routes to School programs were established to provide resources to cities, schools and communities to help them encourage more children to walk and bike to school more often. Simply put, more children walking and biking to school, means more active children and less cars on the road, creating safer, cleaner communities. The Culver City Non-Infrastructure Safe Routes to School Program – Culver City Walk & Rollers – will touch on four of the five E’s: Education, Encouragement, Enforcement and Evaluation, with the focus of the program being on Education and Encouragement. All schools will be encouraged to develop sustainable walk and bike to school programs. The overall goals of Culver City Walk & Rollers are: increase the number of children walking and biking to school, reduce traffic and pollution around school sites and create a safer, more livable community.

Volunteer Positions:
Volunteers with Culver City Walk ‘n Rollers will be signing up to be a part of “walking school buses” to the nearest elementary school in their neighborhood. Commitments would likely be one day per week, from around 8am-8:30am. Volunteers help escort children safely to school along a short route through neighborhood. Routes and times will be TBD to accommodate the volunteers’ schedules and locations! This is a great way to get out in the morning for a little exercise, and to help local children get to school safely.

Notes:
Volunteers will fill out the standard CCUSD volunteer packet. If any parent wants to simply assist with the WSB in an unofficial way for their own child's school, they're welcome to jump in and help without filling out the packet!
