In response to the escalating rates of hate crimes in Los Angeles County, the City of Culver City is taking a step to confront this issue. From November 12th through November 18th, 2023, Culver City will call attention to the initiative, "Culver City Stands United Against Hate," aimed at fostering unity and resilience within the community.

"Discrimination and hate do not belong in Culver City or anywhere," said Culver City Mayor Albert Vera. "We remain committed to ensuring residents feel respected and valued. As a City, we are stronger together when everyone is welcome no matter their race, religion, or creed."

As part of this campaign, the City will add specially designed banners on light posts on streets, alongside distributing informative flyers, postcards, and posters that highlighting the need to stand against hate. Culver City recognizes the importance of the situation and aims to raise awareness about hate crimes, their impact on the community, and reporting such incidents.

Residents are invited to show their solidarity by actively participating in the campaign. As a tangible symbol of unity, the community is encouraged to pick up and proudly display "Culver City Stands United Against Hate" hand flags that can be placed in the corner of the lawn, as well as magnets, and pens. Further details on pick-up locations, dates, and times will be announced soon, encouraging residents to check back for updates and get involved in this initiative. Postcards and magnets will be available at the City Council meeting on Monday, November 13th. Items will be available on a first come first serve basis until they are gone.

In joining forces under the banner of "Culver City Stands United Against Hate," the community aims to send a powerful message that intolerance will not be tolerated. By fostering a culture of inclusivity, education, and reporting, Culver City works to create a safer and more resilient community for all.
