Culver City's Public Works Environmental Programs and Operations (EPO) Division invites you to the world’s largest environmental volunteer event.
Culver City’s annual La Ballona Creek Cleanup event will take place on Saturday, September 21st, from 9 AM to 12 PM. Every year, as many as 200 volunteers come together at five various sites within the Culver City to take action to remove unsightly and harmful debris from our beaches and inland waterways.
California Coastal Cleanup Day is coordinated in Los Angeles County by Heal the Bay, California Coastal Commission, and the Los Angeles County Department of Beaches & Harbors. Ninety-one countries around the world will take part in this extraordinary, international event. With over 10,000 volunteers expected to come together in LA County, Culver City continues to be a proud sponsor and participate in this worldwide cleanup effort.
Registration begins at 9 AM at the creek bike path entrance.
Registration for this year’s five sites will be held by the following returning groups:
Public Works EPO will maintain overall site coordination. You can reach the offices by calling (310) 253-6400.
At the conclusion of the event, City staff will collect data cards from each of the five sites and report the diversion numbers to Heal the Bay. HTB will then provide the annual pollution ranking from grades A to F indicating the areas safe for fishing, swimming, kayaking and other recreational uses. The entire greater Los Angeles watershed from the mountains to the sea is all connected.
