Join us as we celebrate the legacy, message, and spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The Culver City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department, along with the Culver City Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration and Juneteenth Celebration Advisory Committee, invite you to this day of service and community event on Saturday, January 11th, 2025.

MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated by Congress as a National Day of Service. The holiday not only honors the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., but also encourages all to volunteer to improve their communities.

The event will start at 2 PM at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium, located at 4117 Overland Avenue.

Get Involved!

Contact an organization in Culver City to inquire and sign up for any of their community service opportunities. Organizations can include churches, schools, non-profits, community organizations, service groups, etc. There is no minimum number of community service hours required. Upon completion, please complete the Culver City MLK Celebration Form. The last day to complete the form is Friday January 3rd. Each participant will receive a certificate of recognition at the King Day Celebration! 

Fellowship & Beyond Video Contest 

Let your imagination soar. Act, sing, dance, recite a poem, show your artwork... any creative expression you can think of that captures the spirit of Dr. King's message and record it in a YouTube Video up to two minutes. The video must capture the following message: "The world needs people not in love with money but in love with justice – not in love with fame or power but in love with humanity."

With three grand prizes available, the winners will receive their prize at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Saturday January 11th at 2 PM. Their videos will also be shown at the event. The last day to submit your video online is Friday, January 3rd.
