Step 1.Verify Your Trip Information

Ensure you have your origin and destination information for the planned trip(s).

Be sure you have an active business license in the City of Culver City and have a Certificate of Insurance that meets the City's minimums.

Step 2.Gather Your Information

  • Planned route in the City. You will need to describe this route in the permit application process.
  • Description of vehicle and/or load. This includes loaded vehicle dimensions and weight classification.
  • Confirm whether your vehicle will be parked on-site or in the public right-of-way. Vehicles parking in the public right-of-way will require a Street Use Permit.
  • Please note that a separate permit is required for each vehicle.
  • Each one-way trip is $16.00 (a round trip would be $32.00). This helps pay for repair of the road due to oversized loads.

Step 3.Apply Online

Please complete the Transportation Permit application online based on your needs. Online payment will be required before submission of the application.

Step 4.Application Review

Once you have applied for your permit on the Permit Portal, the Mobility & Traffic Engineering Division will review the application within 5 business days. If your application needs more information, or is not approved, you will receive a notification via email with an explanation.

Step 5.Check Your Permit

The Mobility & Traffic Engineering Division may adjust your proposed haul route due to existing projects, planned work, or other circumstances. Please double check the haul route listed on your approved permit and communicate any changes to the applicable driver(s).

Step 6.Display the Transportation Permit

The permitted vehicle must remain on the approved haul route and have a physical copy of the permit onboard at all times while in transit to avoid citation by the Culver City Police Department.
