About the Complete Streets Design Standards
The City is creating Complete Streets Design Standards to ensure that the way in which it plans, designs, and constructs streets enables safe access for all users, regardless of age or ability. The Standards emphasize the needs of users that have experienced under investment in roadway infrastructure, such as the disabled, elderly, and those without access to a personal vehicle.
The Standards unify the City’s various mobility plans and were informed by best practices on Complete Street design as well as legal requirements at the local, state, and federal level. The Standards apply to all projects that propose or are required to implement improvements in the public right-of-way, including, but not limited to, capital improvement and land development projects.
